I hear you. I have only been fishing for 3 years and more I learn and get better, the more expensive it gets. Isn't it supposed to be the better you get the less you need expensive gear b/c you don't have to rely on the gear as much anymore? I am doing something wrong. [Kistler Custom Fishing Rods]

cwen, I just got the Mg but have used the regular Scorps for a couple of years. Do you think there is a difference between the standard scorp drag and that of the MG? I'm curious but I agree with your asessment that the slipping of the drag cranked down tight can be advantageous. I did notice it several times this past season landing fish over 6 and 7lbs. _________________ www.micromunchtackle.com

I have never even thought about the rod sacrificing any strength or durability due to its light weight. I've caught likely over 1000 bass on these rods in the last season alone, some were extremely large...not a problem. I also have taken several stripers in the 20lb class, one a 28lber with no complaints. _________________ www.micromunchtackle.com
