Add a blacklight to your crappie fishing and increase your catchExperienced fishermen will tell you that crappie fishing is easy in the nights because the calm waters and cooler temperatures ensure that your crappie catch is bigger. Of course, crappie fishing at night poses a different set of problems, the main one being that you cannot see in the dark, which also means that you will miss the tug on the fishing line. Or it may be that the fish would have gone under the boat or it would have dashed some distance before you feel the tug on the line.
Here’s a great way to see your fishing line and also to ensure that you have a bigger catch than what the ‘day time’ fishermen get during crappie fishing -- buy a blacklight and a fluorescent fishing line. This way, using a blacklight will help you see your fishing line in the dark and more importantly, you will see the tug on the line the instant it happens. In addition you can see a lot more around your fishing line than you normally would, during daytime. Some seasoned fishermen shun the use of blacklight in night fishing as they feel that the blacklight may spook the fish. Others, who do not agree, say that the blacklight is the best thing for crappie fishing. But it is better to try it at least once. You cannot go wrong with your choice of blacklight from “Stan Sloan” brand, which is the best selling blacklight. You can pick up an Optronics brand from Cabela’s that retails for about $50. Now, try to match it with a great fishing line for crappie fishing. Berkley’s flame green fireline fluorescent fishing line is great for both day and blacklight night time fishing, as the fluorescent property is blended into the line during production, unlike some others which have fluorescent color painted on them. You get a more durable fishing line. Another great line on offer is the P-Line’s clear fluorescent line. Check out all of them and see which one works best for you and go for it. Take a crappie fishing trip on a dark night out with a blacklight and
a fluorescent fishing line. Who knows, you might end up with a great catch
of the fattest crappie ever in your basket! |
