Plan wisely for a successful night of fishing crappie

Fishing crappie at night is an enjoyable experience if you go about it the right way. When you are out in the open or on the water, you need to be properly equipped for fishing crappie. Otherwise, you run the risk of serious injury or death if you do not have the tools you need.

You should be fully aware of your waters during the day. Check out the shallow waters and the tree stumps and establish the perimeters when going out for fishing crappie in the night. Your boat should be well equipped with a number of lights, batteries, and floatation devices and should know where they are so that you can reach them in the dark. If somebody falls overboard, you will react faster and throw the float out quickly if you know where it is, even in the dark. Keeping a stock of insect repellent is a must.

These days it is better to carry a GPS monitor, otherwise you can carry a good compass, when you venture out for a night of fishing crappie so that in case you get lost, you can locate the way home. Buy a GPS and learn at home how to use it well. Otherwise you may find it hard to use in the dark, especially when you are in a state of panic.

Plan ahead for your safety. Inform others where you will be and when you are likely to return, so that they can start looking for you if you are not back at the expected time. Since you are planning to stay alert and awake fishing crappie, it is better to have a quiet nap in the afternoon. And like a hunter checks his gun, check up your reels, rods and lures before you step out of the house. It is easier to locate, repair missing stuff at home, not when you are in the boat!
